Why AI Safety Matters
As AI transforms Indonesian society, we must balance innovation with responsibility. Systems deployed across finance, healthcare, transportation, education, and governance need safeguards that reflect our unique context:
AI systems pursuing unintended goals despite our best intentions
Models vulnerable to adversarial attacks and data poisoning
Safety frameworks imported without adaptation to your business context
Excitement about capabilities overshadowing rigorous safety engineering
It is great to see that Indonesia is generally optimistic about AI, but we need to practicalize AI safety principles across all sectors to ensure AI is a force for good (Mansur M. Arief, Executive Director, Stanford Center for AI Safety).
